Men’s Philosophical Society

Update: December 5th, 2010

Provisional Meeting & Entertainment Calendar 2011

Meet at 8:30 pm until around 10:00 pm

The MPS will usually meet on the first Wednesday of each month in a favourite watering hole in one of the beautiful Chiltern villages as listed below. The simple purpose is to enjoy a pint of Coke or quite possibly Rebellion, and for setting the world to rights and sharing implausible views on sporting issues, or more weighty subjects, thus keeping alive the tradition of informal discussion in convivial surroundings, as men have done throughout history.

Just turn up when you can, no booking in required. Once a year usually in December we will follow the meeting with supper.

We have a speaker evening confirmed in February at the KW4:

Giles Fisher is speaking on his extraordinary life at the KW4 on Wednesday 2nd February 2011. His talk is entitled ‘Business, Sex, Prison and God’. From a very wealthy family background, Giles had a lot of fun making and spending lots of money until it all went very wrong and his tale of getting his life back together is fascinating. It has to be a real life account as you could not possible make up this story.

The evening starts at 7:30 pm with a ‘Dilly special’ two course supper followed by the Giles talk. No cost apart from the supper at around £15! Booking is through Graham Peart, graham@advancedinteriors.net or 01494 488327 (evenings).

The archery evening with the Whiteleaf Bowmen was a great success again this year and another similar event is planned in June. A trip to the RAF Hendon museum will be arranged for September as a follow up to the brilliant visit to RAF Uxbridge, full details to follow. Call Graham Peart for more information, details below.
