Old Post – MAY 2010

Could you be free the afternoon of Thursday 20th May between 1-3.30pm?

The Speen Festival has arranged for the poet Jane Draycott [www.janedraycott.org.uk] to come to Speen on the 20th May from 1-3.30pm to help us launch an oral history project, in collaboration with the Speen and North Dean News.

Would you have time before that date to call on someone local over the age of about! 75 plus to make them a cup of tea and, as a preamble to the World Cup, interview them about their sporting past. Then, armed only with the essential nuggets of information that you have gleaned from your interview (NOT the whole transcript), Jane will be on hand for a practical writing workshop to assist you to connect this material with you and your own experiences. Participation is free, but donations welcome to cover the cost of a picnic lunch at 1.00pm for participants.  Venue in Speen tbc

To book, please supply the following details and email to Kate Laughton (01494 488548):director@speenfestival.org

[Your name, your telephone number/contact details, the name of your possible interviewee (so we don’t duplicate!), a request for the Festival to facilitate an introduction to someone for a cup of tea if you would rather we organised this]
