EHS Consultation
Exceptional Hardship Scheme
The Exceptional Hardship Scheme opened for applications on August 20th 2010.
This only applies to the Preferred Route – Route 3, and has only marginal improvements over the original scheme. Details can be found at:

On July 26th 2010, the Government published the results of the consultation held into the EHS, which closed for input on June 17th.
Despite widespread concern and significant input for change, only minor concessions have been made to the scheme, which opens for applications on August 20th
The scheme still only applies to the ‘preferred’ route, 3 – so no-one on the 2.5 route is eligible.
On the preferred route, the scheme still excludes any properties over tunnels, although tunnel portals are included, some extension to eligibility has been made for some commercial and agricultural properties, and inherited properties.

The High Speed 2 Action Alliance (HS2AA) have developed an ongoing process to capture Property Blight information as an important element of ongoing ‘proof’ of blight as a result of HS2.
This follows a pilot scheme which was introduced to respond to the original EHS consultation (see details below).
Individuals can complete a form on the HS2AA site to record their experiences and this can be accessed via the following link:

The Government’s exceptional hardship scheme has now closed – and a big thank you to everyone who responded, either via the HS2 Action Alliance site, or directly to the consultation on the EHS site.
